Position Title:

Children's Service Society Executive Director
Description: Children’s Service Society: Founded in 1884, Children’s Service Society is one of Utah’s oldest non-profit organizations. Today, CSS helps children and their families through four programs: Grandfamilies, Child Care Resource & Referral, Adoption Related Services, and Utah Parents as Teachers. Together, these programs further CSS’s mission to meet the the growth and developmental needs of children, foster quality child care, and promote positive relationships in biological, adoptive, and kinship families.
General Summary of Duties: The Executive Director’s primary responsibility is to raise funds through fundraising, government and philanthropic grants, and government contracts. The Executive Director is responsible for the administration of the agency and is responsible for ensuring that the agency’s programs are managed in accordance with all applicable contractual and legal requirements. The Executive Director is responsible for increasing the agency’s visibility and community support. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the agency’s budget and ensuring that the budget is balanced each year.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in organizing and managing an organization’s fundraising efforts
  • Experience in identifying possible grants, drafting grant proposals and establishing/managing relations with philanthropic organizations/foundations
  • Experience in applying for and supervising government contracts
  • Masters Degree or significant experience in business administration or management
  • Awareness of emerging trends in non-profit funding sources and ability to position the agency to succeed in increasingly competitive social services market
Compensation: Base salary of $60,000 plus benefits, including medical and dental insurance, employer contributions to employee 401(k) plan, and employee assistance program. In addition to the base salary and benefits, the executive director may earn a bonus, to be negotiated yearly.
