How Can Utah Parents as Teachers Help Your Family?

Being a parent is a tough job! Utah Parents as Teachers is here to help you by providing parent education and family support throughout pregnancy until your child enters kindergarten.

Utah Parents as teachers is a free program for parents with children between the ages of 0 to 5. Our focus is on helping the parent be their child's first and most influential teacher by empowering parents to teach. To do this, we offer the following services and benefits:

As a Parents as Teachers Family, You Will Receive:

• Access to Parent Group Meetings (Family Literacy Nights)
• Screenings
• Resource Network
• Personal Visits at your home

Other Services We Offer:

• Parenting classes and resources (TBA)
• Kindergarten readiness resources
• Planning tools for family literacy and lifelong learning

Does the Parents as Teachers Program Work?

Yes! Independent Evaluations Show that Parents as Teachers Does Work!

• At age 3, children who have gone through the parents as teachers program are significantly more advanced in language, social development, problem solving, and other cognitive abilities.
• They score higher on kindergarten readiness tests and on standardized measures of achievement in early grades.
• Parents who have finished the program are more involved in their children's schooling.
• Parents who have completed the program are more confident in their parenting role and read to their children more often.
