Post-Adoption Services

Children's Service Society began in October 1884 as a day care facility. Within two weeks, CSS became an orphanage when an unwed mother with a baby in her arms knocked on our door looking for a place to stay. Since that beginning, we have provided services to thousands of mothers with unintended pregnancies and thousands of children who have needed permanent families.

It is common for members of the adoption triad (birth parents, adoptive parents and adoptees) to have questions or need support later on in life.  Adoptees often have questions about their adoption and the circumstances in which they were placed.  They also wonder about their biological family.  Birth parents often think about the child they placed for adoption many years ago and wonder how that person is doing today.

Children's Service Society offers several services to help make the post-adoption experience happy and successful: support for adoptive families, therapeutic counseling for all members of the adoptive triad, and Connections: a confidential intermediary search and reunion service for biological family members.
